Yoga
I teach YOGA because it allows me to reach a wide range of people, offering a challenging yet relaxed way to treat the body and soul with more compassion. I am always impressed by people putting their bodies into breathtaking poses – however: this is not the part of Yoga that I focus on! What really matters to me is that students leave my classes with new insights and relationships to their own bodies while understanding the amazing connection between individual life experience and the reflection in the body.
Yoga gives us the opportunity to pause and take a deeper look at ourselves. With the experience and history of more than 3000 years, Yoga offers us the tools to awaken our consciousness of who we really are and do the necessary changes to feel connected to ourselves as well as to the outer world.
On a physical, mental, energetic and emotional level the many different limbs of Yoga teach us how to take care of our body and our soul, giving them the necessary care, love and attention to finally fully and completely accept ourselves the way we are.
The physical exercises (Asanas) allow the muscles to strengthen, to stretch and to get more flexible. Our body gets healthy and powerful. The breathing exercises (Pranayama) amplify our capacity of the breath, setting free the different energetic channels in our body, awakening our brain potential.
Through the relaxation we learn to let go and find inner peace and trust within ourselves. Meditation brings us closer to the essence of who we really are. Sitting still is probably the biggest challenge within the practise of Yoga and helps us to calm our mind and improve our concentration.
Practising Yoga makes us feel alive in a healthy body and gives us the chance to live the present, here and now. Integrating Yoga into our daily life gets us grounded and flexible and encourages us to go our individual path. Living the spirit of Yoga helps us to face the life’s challenges with inner balance and strength, knowing that everything we need is already within ourselves.
